Post Bernay-en-Ponthieu

I’m here, settled back in the apartment with Mom in Paris.

It’s been a whirlwind.

The time in Bernay has been full of all kinds of growth and change – much of it will take time to really understand and articulate. We did more in a day than I could ever have imagined and the variety of activities was phenomenal. Seriously, this is the first time I’ve been to a ‘technical hugging’ workshop, or one about traditional turkish coffee (that involved reading the coffee grounds afterwards)!
Tonight, settled in Paris, I inked in the comic from my last post, just for fun.

I had the opportunity to meet 20+ truly wonderful changemakers. Each person involved in the residency is working in some way to make the world a better place.

The whole experience is a bit of a mish-mash in my head (as you can see in my disorganized writing tonight). It’s going to take some time to let the whole thing filter up through my muscles until it is something that can be articulated, I think.

I wrote a children’s story that has the potential to be a book. I managed to illustrate all but the last page (that will come when my brain is a little less mish-mashy). In the meantime, here is the cover:

Marcel Runs is my final project from the residency. I had the opportunity to work collectively with 4 others to write children’s stories. We each work in very diverse ways, and each of the stories is very distinct. Part of what draws them together is that we had questions for discussion at the end of the story, and an invitation to act (usually based on something from within the story). I’m truly grateful to have been able to work with such a diverse group  of brilliant artists.

One of the lovely things that has come of this dynamic interconnection is that Marcel Runs has already been read to a kindergarten class in Romania. Unbelievable.

Until next time.

Lisa
