Getting to know you

We did an interesting exercise with Nomadways to get to know each other.

Our group was about 20 people and we were able to learn each other’s names within the first day partly thanks to this little game. We played after doing a brief introductory round in which we stated our names, where we were from, and our connection to storytelling.

Catch with a twist:

Materials needed: small ball (bonus points if it is strawberry scented and has a cute face on it)

Time: 1/2 hour – more if you’d like to indulge the hilarity that will ensue.

Participants: stand/sit in a circle.

1st round: Person with the ball says their OWN name, throws the ball to someone else. The next person says their OWN name, throws the ball on to someone else. Repeat until everyone has had the ball and said their name.

2nd round: Person with the ball says the name of the person who THREW IT TO THEM. Repeat until everyone has had the ball and said the thrower’s name.

3rd round: Person with the ball says the name of the person they are going to THROW IT TO. Repeat until everyone has had the ball and said the recipient’s name.

I feel like there was yet another variation, but for the life of me right now I can’t remember it. Please let me know if you have another variation on this game and I will include it here.
